The National Center of Meteorology (NCM), UAE, has completed its second scientific mission to Antarctica, further strengthening the UAE’s contribution to global climate and polar research.
As part of the 2025 - 2026 expedition, the Emirati team expanded its scientific infrastructure in one of the most challenging environments on Earth. The mission resulted in:
- Deployment of a second UAE weather station
- Installation of the first UAE tidal monitoring station
- Maintenance and enhancement of the previously installed weather and seismic stations
With this expansion, the UAE now operates two weather stations and one tidal station in Antarctica, providing high-quality environmental data to support long-term climate modeling, sea-level research, and geophysical studies.
Operating in extreme polar conditions requires not only scientific vision but also highly reliable, field-proven technology. The deployed monitoring systems are designed to withstand severe Antarctic weather, ensuring continuous and accurate data collection in temperatures, wind regimes, and icing conditions that challenge standard instrumentation.
The data generated by these stations contributes to international observation networks and strengthens the UAE’s role in scientific diplomacy and global climate research.
MicroStep-MIS is honored to support the National Center of Meteorology as a technology partner in this important mission. Our meteorological monitoring solutions were supplied as part of NCM’s expanding polar infrastructure, built to deliver long-term performance and operational reliability in remote environments.
We sincerely appreciate NCM’s trust and their leadership in advancing atmospheric and environmental research in polar regions.
