In 1999, MicroStep-MIS achieved a landmark milestone in Saudi Arabia by upgrading meteorological systems at two of the nation's busiest airports: King Khaled International Airport in Riyadh and King Fahd International Airport in Dammam. This transformative project was part of Saudi Arabia's mission to modernize its aviation infrastructure in preparation for Y2K, ensuring the highest reliability standards (CAT III) for safe and efficient operations.
The project was no small feat—it became one of the most ambitious undertakings in the history of the company. A dedicated team of 12 engineers and experts, led by Jozef Omelka, embraced the challenge of implementing state-of-the-art Automated Weather Observation Systems (AWOS) within an incredibly tight timeframe. The team began work in September and delivered the completed systems on December 24th, just two hours before their flight back home for the holidays. This remarkable feat of dedication and precision reflects not just the high stakes of the project but the extraordinary capabilities of the MicroStep-MIS team.
