MicroStep-MIS is proud to announce the successful completion of the SESAR project Pj02-W2-25.1 Enhanced runway condition awareness for runway excursion prevention, reaching the V3 maturity level. Our company played an integral role as the linked third party of PANSA in the development and validation of the innovative Runway Condition Awareness and Monitoring System (RCAMS) at the Lech Walesa Airport in Gdansk.
The RCAMS system continuously monitors the runway surface conditions and alerts the user in case of any significant changes. Its mobile version enables Duty Officers to compose and disseminate the runway condition report even during runway inspection. Additionally, the system uses OBACS data from sensors located on aircraft to collect information on the braking performance of the aircraft on the individual parts of the runway.
Together with our partners from the Solution (PANSA, ICM, Airbus, Dassault), we presented the main outputs of the Solution during the Pj02 Final Result Presentation Event (Eurocontrol, Brétigny - Paris) on 28-29th March to the interested aviation community from airlines, airports, and air navigation service providers (ANSPs).
We are delighted to announce that the Gdansk airport has signed a contract with MicroStep-MIS to use the RCAMS system in operation even beyond the SESAR project duration. This is a testament to the relevance and effectiveness of the project in enhancing runway condition awareness and preventing runway excursions.
MicroStep-MIS is committed to providing innovative aviation technology solutions that improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability in the aviation industry.
