Introducing the AMS 111 Compact
Text

The AMS 111 Compact data logger has been developed to provide a compact solution for applications with a limited sensor set and applications where portability is important. The most compact variant can be integrated into a box with dimensions of 15 x 10 x 7 cm.

Configurability as the main theme

The data logger can be customized and programmed using a user-friendly graphical interface or directly with JSON-based scripts. The configuration is readable and can be modified easily, even with a simple text editor. It consists of several functional blocks and largely defines the behavior of the device. These blocks define variables, measurements, alarms, communication with sensors, data logging, calculations on defined variables, statistics, connection with servers, sending and receiving SMS, control of IO pins and power outputs, and last but not least, the content of the display screen.

Flexibility at first glance

The versatility of the AMS 111 Compact is achieved by 4 special IO pins. Each of them can be individually configured for any of the 8 supported functions, such as digital input and output, analog voltage and current loop measurements 4 - 20 mA, pulse counter, frequency measurement, 4-bit Gray code, and PWM output. Their functionality may be expanded in the future. The device can be further expanded using up to three internal cards of different categories - communication, analog, and universal.

A large number of interfaces

The AMS 111 Compact includes all commonly used interfaces, such as RS-232, RS-485 (optionally isolated), and SDI-12. The device also includes a 4G modem, Bluetooth, and a modern USB-C connector. In addition to the ASCII protocol, the AMS 111 Compact also supports the widely used MODBUS protocol on the RS-485 line. The collected data can be stored on a micro-SD card or in internal memory. The data can be sent to collection systems using the TCP/IP, FTP, or UDCS protocol. Additionally, the AMS 111 Compact can communicate with the user or an automated system through the exchange of SMS messages.

Knows its location

The AMS 111 Compact can be supplied with an optional GNSS module. Thanks to the support of GPS and Glonass navigation systems and the possibility of connecting an external active antenna, the module enables the determination of the exact position and time synchronization in almost all conditions.

Data in the right form

Another highlight of the AMS 111 Compact is the optional graphic OLED display. The display screen can be easily read under different lighting conditions and from different viewing angles thanks to the used OLED technology. The main advantage of the display is its versatility. The display screen can be defined in the data logger configuration using JSON scripts and this feature allows the user to fully customize the user interfaces to their needs.

Two devices in one package

The integrated charger is an important element of the logger and brings many features of our advanced BIM205 Intelligent Charger. The adaptable design of the product offers a choice of one of the following battery types: Li-Ion batteries, Li-Fe batteries and lead 12/24 V batteries. Thanks to the MPPT technology, the charger can extract up to 30 % more energy from the photovoltaic panels compared to the usage of a simple solar charger. Battery protection against critical conditions and optional heating for Li-Ion and Li-Fe batteries are also a matter of course.

Powering your needs

The data logger has 4 adjustable power outputs, which allow for powering multiple sensors and creating different power schemes. The Li-Ion and Li-Fe versions have an integrated DC/DC converter that creates 12 V from the low voltage produced by the batteries, so they are not limited to the use of sensors with very low supply voltages. A specific 3.3 V regulated output is reserved for sensors with very low supply voltages.

The AMS 111 Compact also excels in power management, as it has been designed to run as long as possible from a miniature battery. The data logger supports the advanced setting of operating modes, some of which are user-controllable enabling the user to put AMS 111 Compact to standby mode with very low power consumption and suspended operations.
