The cooperation agreement signed between Vista Geo and MicroStep-MIS in the spring of 2018 has long been a platonic relationship for a long time. However, the partial goal was eventually reached at the end of October 2019 and we installed the SNOWSENSE station in the harsh conditions of the Slovak mountains.
The representative of our Munich partner, Mr. Florian Appel, visited MicroStep-MIS office in Bratislava on October 28. He showed us the station and presented us the principles, objectives and theory of snow measurement. The theory came into practice right on the following day when we traveled to Zverovka in West Tatra Mountains and installed the station. The temporary home for the station, we hope until the spring, will be a former heliport behind the Mountain Rescue Service building in Zverovka.
The newly installed station station will be sending the data of Snow Water Equivalent and Liquid Water Content to the HQ of Geo Vista in Munich till the end of the 2019/20 winter season. This data will be sent to us and we will share it with SHMU (Slovak Hydrometeorological Institute). The measured data will be compared with regular manual measurements from this particular location and the result will be a case study from the Slovak conditions allowing us to expand our product portfolio by tested snow measurement.
