On February 19 - 21, MicroStep-MIS' Aviation Weather Decision Support System (AWDSS) was successfully validated under the SESAR project PJ.04-02 Total Airport Management.
During the three days we presented the system to representatives of airport operators from Airport Bratislava and air traffic controllers representatives from LPS SR and demonstrated its functionality and potential benefits by presenting both the real time data as well as simulated historical situations with adverse weather conditions such as snow, strong wind, fog or storm. From the completed questionnaires and discussions, we received the valuable feedback for the validation report and further direction of development.
We finalized the validation by public presentation of the system and its results during the Open Day held on March 7 at LPS premises. The demonstration was an excellent opportunity to present the participants with the platform, developed by MicroStep-MIS for detection and forecast (with probability assessment) of meteorological thresholds exceedance impacting airport operations with related pre-defined candidate solutions.
