Global Airport Safety Net Forum
Text

On April 4 - 5, MicroStep-MIS attended the Global Airport Safety Net Forum taking place in Toulouse (France). The Forum brought together the global aviation and meteorology communities to discuss the matters of sky safety.

DSNA (the French air navigation service provider), the coordinator of one of the SESAR projects (SAFE - Safer Airports and Flights for Europe), was the main organizer of the event. As one of the participants in the project, our company had been invited to join the Forum together with approximately 40 representatives from various industries and companies such as Airbus, European airports representatives (Munich, Amsterdam, Pariz), airlines (Easyjet, Air France), air navigation services providers (DSNA, LPS, PANSA), Eurocontrol, SESAR JU, Frequentis, Thales Avionics, ISASI (International Society of Air Safety Investigators), IATA (International Air Transport Association), Dassault Aviation, Honeywell Aerospace, Leonardo and others. The primary objective of the Forum was to get a feedback to ongoing SESAR projects.

After the successful presentation of our ARWIS system during SESAR Open Day in Poprad (Slovakia), we were invited to present our proposal for processing and displaying runway state information and RWYCC (runway condition code) on this Forum. We met with a positive response, proof of which is an invitation to the EUROCAE-WG 109 Runway Weather Information Systems International Working Group dealing with the standardization of systems and sensors monitoring the state of the runway in connection with the implementation of the RWYCC in practice in November 2020.
